Hi,
SHORT SHARP MARKET ROUND UP...
A cold week for most with a good southerly blast going through the country. Schedules across the board are steady to + 5 cents this week.
On the Beef & Sheep front, the stud bull season winds down with good sale results across the country. The top price Angus sold for $50,000 with Hereford's top price of $29,000. Charolais and Speckle Park both had a top bull price of $24,000 & $25,000. Demand for store cattle remains strong, with the store lamb market steady. Inlamb ewes are fetching $80 - $130 depending on age and condition.
On the dairy front the GDT auction overall was down 0.4%, but WMP up 2.6%. With calving starting for the early areas, the calf markets will be underway within the next week and looks like prices could be similar to last season. Will keep you posted on where we think this market will head over the next 3 months. Good incalf cows and heifers are fetching $1200 - $1800, with R1's trading around $700 - $900 depending on quality.
