SHORT SHARP MARKET ROUND UP..
A big mix of weather this week, with hot temps, then rain, then snow to top it off. Some areas are green with plenty of feed, but the west coast of the North Island and parts of the South Island are not to good, with very little rain since November taking its toll. Beef Schedule in the North are up 5 - 10 cents, with South Island schedules steady. NI lamb is up 10 cents to $6.95, with SI lamb steady at $6.75.
In the Dairy Sector
We have plenty of dairy listings at present, so if you are looking for cows or heifers for the coming season, take a look at the drafting gate. Herds are ranging from $1550 - $2100 depending on figures and quality. Incalf Heifers are ranging from $1300 - $1750. R1 heifers range from $500 - $750 depending on breeds and figures.
In the Beef & Sheep Sector
Store lambs are steady again this week, with most trading around $3 - $3.20kgLW. On the store cattle front, demand is still strong with limited numbers coming out at present. 100kg Friesian bulls are fetching $500 plus, with bulls 130kg + trading around $550 - $600 depending on weights and quality. R2 Friesian bulls are fetching around $3kgLW. R2 Steers around 400kg are trading at $3.30kgLW, with 380kg heifers around $2.90kgLW.
