THE WEEKLY WEIGH-IN
The latest livestock listings, prices and industry news
SHORT SHARP MARKET ROUND UP..
So far its a hot start to the Autumn with most days around the late 20's. Looks like some rain heading this way for later in the week. Beef Schedules are steady in the North with the south up 5 - 10 cents this week. NI lamb is steady at $6.95, with SI lamb steady at $6.85.
In the Dairy Sector
Live export is seeing some action again, with a couple of orders out there for Friesian and Jersey heifers at present. We still have plenty of dairy listings every week, so if you are in the market for cows or heifers, check out the drafting gate today.
In the Beef & Sheep Sector
Large numbers of run weaners will start to flow on the market over the coming month, with numbers expected to be well ahead of last year. It will be interesting to see where this market finds its level this season. We have buyers looking for good lines of Hereford or Angus bull calves, so if you are selling lines of run weaners, list them on MLR. R2 Frieisan bulls are trading around $2.80kgLW. R2 steers are steady at around $3.30kgLW. The store lamb market is steady, with most fetching around $3 - $3.10kgLW.
Have a great week from the MLR team.
