A very calm and warm week helping to keep the grass growing. Meat schedules are steady in the North, with the South 5 - 10 cents back this week. NI Lamb is up at $7.30, with SI lamb steady at $7.05. The GDT auction this week was down 1.1% overall, with our main export WMP down 1.5%. On the dairy front, Autumn calving is coming to an end, with calves still selling well. Demand has eased, but so have the numbers available, so the market remains steady. Dairy herds and heifers are being snapped up from South Island buyers to help with the restocking of M Bovis farms, helping to keep this market steady at present. The store cattle market remains sticky, with more stock available than demand can soak up. R1 Friesian bulls are trading around $3.40kgLW for 200kg plus, with lighter bulls fetching around $3.60kgLW. R2 Friesian bulls are trading around $2.60kgLW. R2 Steers are flat at around $3kgLW, with heifers fetching around $2.70kgLW. Store lambs remain steady, with most fetching around $3.30 - $3.40kgLW.
Have a great week from the MLR team.
