THE WEEKLY WEIGH-IN

The latest livestock listings, prices and industry news

Hi Matt,

SHORT SHARP MARKET ROUND UP..

Winter has arrived and the forecast is looking to be a cold one. NI Bull & Cow schedules have seen a lift, due to numbers drying up. Steers remain steady again this week. NI lamb has lifted to $7.50, with SI lamb also lifted to $7.30. Dairy cattle are already on the move as we head into 1st June, so check out NAIT's Moving Day campaign, if you are on the move this season. NAIT/OSPRI have a page dedicated to Moving Day, and your NAIT requirements around moving your herd to a new location here

On the dairy front, M-Bovis is the big topic at present, with the government making a decision tomorrow.  Hopefully this will give the industry some much needed clarity going forward. Drying off is in full swing, with cows on the move to grazing for the winter. If you are still short of cows for the coming season, then we have a few listings for cows and heifers, that may suit your requirements. Check them out here

On the beef & sheep front, the Stud bull season is underway, with On-farm auctions happening all over the country for the coming month. We are running a new promotion this season for listing your Bulls and Sales. For more information check it out here . Store cattle markets remain flat, with most setting up farms for the Winter now. R2 Fries bulls are trading around $2.70 - $2.80kgLW. R1 Fries bulls are around $3.50 - $3.70kgLW. R2 Steers are fetching around the $3 mark, with Heifers around $2.70 - $2.80kgLW.
