SHORT SHARP MARKET ROUND UP..
No change to beef schedules in the North Island, with the South lifting 5 - 10 cents again this week. NI lamb is $7.85, with SI lamb at $7.75. Dairy farmers have taken a hit this week, with the GDT auction down 5% overall, and WMP down 7.3%, with this being the sharpest fall for well over a year. Fonterra's $7 payout is looking shakey, unless we see improving auctions in the coming months. Most are saying this is due to the Chinese economy slowing. Banks are saying the payout will be around $6.50, which looks more likely at present. On the store cattle front, markets are quiet again this week, with prices steady overall. Store lambs are a mixed result, with most fetching around $3.50 - $3.80. Good quality breeding ewes scanned inlamb are selling around the $200 mark.
Have a great week from the MLR team.
