Beef schedules are steady overall this week, with NI lamb at $8, and SI lamb at $7.85. On the dairy front, the GDT auction this week was down 1.7% overall, with WMP up 1.5%. Feeder calf sales are underway now, with a mixed result depending on the regions at present. So far its looking like less buyers in the market at saleyards, with rearers opting to purchase direct from farms this season, but this may change as most rearers need to fill sheds by certain dates, so saleyards are the only option to speed up supply. Friesian bulls are ranging from $200 - $250 for good bulls, to around $100 - $150 for medium, with smaller calves under $100. Beef calf numbers are limited, with prices around $150 - $250 depending on quality and breeds. On the beef & sheep front, store cattle markets are overall similar to last weeks report. A hint of spring in the air may see markets start to move. Store lambs are trading around $3.80 - $4kgLW. Ewes with LAF are fetching $80 - $116.
Have a great week from the MLR team.
