The last week has seen some hot temps for some parts of the country, however there is still plenty of feed around the country at present. Beef schedules overall are steady this week. On the dairy front, this weeks GDT auction was up 2.8% overall, with WMP up 1.2%. There are a few buyers looking for herds at present, but overall this market is still slow. R1yr heifer calves are trading around $550 - $650 depending on quality and breeds. Export orders are chasing R2 Friesian heifers, with limited local demand for these at present. On the beef & sheep front, Freisian wnr bulls are trading around $460 - $520 depending on weights. Friesian 1yr bulls are trading around $2.60 - $2.90kgLW. Friesian 2yr bulls are fetching around $2.50 - $2.60kgLW. 1yr beef steers are fetching around $3.20 - $3.50kgLW, with heifers around $2.90 - $3.10kgLW. R2 Steers are selling around $3 - $3.20kgLW, with R2 heifers around $2.80 - $3kgLW. Store lambs are trading around $3.50 - $3.80kgLW.
