Beef schedules are up 5 cents overall this week. NI lamb has hit the $8 mark, with SI lamb not far behind at $7.75. On the dairy front, the Westland Dairy Co-Op sale has being confirmed on Thursday by OIO, now lets hope Fonterra gets their big ship turned around before its to late! With calving underway, early friesian bulls are fetching $100 - $160 for med, with $160 - $200 for tops. Little demand for smaller type calves. Beef calves are selling around the $200 plus mark, with limited numbers at present. We would expect these markets to ease heading into August. On the beef & sheep front, demand for store cattle remains steady, with R2 steers fetching $3 - $3.30kgLW, and R2 heifers around $2.70 - $3kgLW. R2 Friesian bulls are moving at $2,80 - $3kgLW, with R1 bulls around $2.90 - $3.30kgLW. R1 steers are $3.50 - $3.80kgLW, with heifers at $2.80 - $3.40kgLW. Store lambs are still in good demand, with most fetching $4 - $4.30kgLW.
Have a great week from the MLR team.
