Beef schedules have lifted overall around 10 cents this week. NI lamb & SI lamb are both steady at $9 this week. On the dairy front, the GDT auction was up 1.7% overall, with WMP up 2.2%. ASB Rural Economist, Nathan Penny has bumped his forecast to $7.50/kg now with signs of good demand around the world and limited milk supply over the coming months, giving the dairy sector a much needed boost for the farmers. On the beef & sheep front, store cattle markets remain strong with most areas in a flush with grass. 1yr Friesian bulls are fetching $3.00 - 3.30kgLW with 2yr Friesian bulls at similar levels. 1yr Beef steers are making $3.80 - $4.20kgLW with heifers around $3.00 - $3.50kgLW depending on quality. Friesian wnr bulls are around $500 - $550 depending on weights and quality. Beef X wnr bulls are making north of $600 with heifers around $450 - $500. Store lambs are trading around $4.20 - $4.50kgLW.
