Some parts of NZ are getting very dry now with Feburary looking to be dry as well. Upside is there was plenty of baleage made in the spring! No good news around beef schedules as they are still coming back, and space is very tight for most of NZ at present. NI lamb is back to $7.40, with SI lamb back to $7.50. On the dairy front, the GDT auctions are down this week by 4.7%, with WMP down 6.2%. The coronavirus is causing volatility in the world markets at present, and this seems to be the main issue, so should be short lived if they get on top of this sooner rather than later. Dairy herds and heifers are coming to the market, with a few buyers looking at the moment. Dairy herds are fetching $1800 - $1950 depending on quality. Incalf heifers are making $1500 - $1650 depending on figures. On the beef & sheep front, store markets remain tough due to dry conditions. It's a buyers market at present, and there is plenty of good buying around NZ at the moment.
