The Weekly Weigh In

My Loading Ramp Team

After around 6 years of delivering this Weekly Weigh In, its great to still be able to bring these reports to you every week. With no saleyards at the moment, we are only basing our information on paddock sales and note these can very a lot from region to region, so if you are not sure on the value of your stock then maybe get some advice from your local stock agent. It looks like most of NZ is in for some more rain mid week. Beef schedules remain steady again this week. NI lamb is at $7.00, with SI lamb at $6.80.

On the dairy front, With Autumn calving half way now, feeder calves are still moving with most Friesian bull calves fetching around $120 - $160 depending on age and quality. Beef calf values range a lot but are well back on last season overall. Beef bulls are fetching around $200 with heifers around $100 - $150 depending on quality. Incalf dairy heifers are selling from $1000 - $1300 depending on quality. Not much market for R1 heifers unless they suitable for Export. Export Friesian heifers are fetching up to $1300 depending on delivery dates. There's still plenty of dairy herds for sale with most of these listed around the $1600 - $1700 level. If you have dairy heifers or cows to sell then get your stock agent to list them on MLR or give it a go yourself if they are not keen. It's easy to use and only takes a few minutes to have a full dairy quote live on MLR.

On the beef & sheep front, we have had a few new beef cattle listings this week so to check them out click here Store cattle markets remain sticky with no saleyards to gauge the market, as well as a lack of feed for most parts of NZ and limited space at the meat processors. This is all impacting these markets at present. Hopefully in the coming week we can get a better gauge of what's happening in these markets and will give a full round up next week.

In these hard times ahead, it is paramount for Stock Agents and Farmers to keep costs down as much as possible, so MLR is a great affordable platform to market your clients livestock New Zealand wide.
