STRAIGHT FROM THE PADDOCK...

Beef schedules are overall steady this week, with signs we may have hit the bottom! Most meat processors are getting back to near 100% in the coming week, so this should help to clear backlogs, as well as some good rain for some areas may have taken the pressure off getting rid of stock for the short term! NI lamb is back at $6.50, with SI lamb back to $6.30.

On the dairy front, the GDT auction was down 4.2% this week, with Oil prices crashing earier in the week being the main cause to this price dip, with a few buyers missing in action. Interesting Oil prices were up again by the end of the week! Very volatile markets at present! It will be a rough ride for the next 3 months, then we should hopefully start to see markets settle heading into the new season. Dairy heifers and cows are selling at present, but limited buying power is making it tough. We have plenty of dairy listings, so if you are in the market, check out the drafting gate today!

On the beef & sheep front, store cattle markets remain very sticky more so for older cattle, with signs of the younger cattle starting to move. R2 steers are fetching $2.30 - $2.50kgLW depending on quality, with R2 heifers around $2.20kgLW. R2 bulls are making $2 - $2.20kgLW. R1 Beef x bulls are making around $2.30 - $2.70 depending on quality. Run weaners are still fetching similar money to last week, with steers fetching $2.70 - $3kgLW, and heifers around $2.30 - $2.60kgLW. Store lambs are trading around $80 - $90/hd depending on weights and type.
