Well Winter has arrived this week with plenty of snow around the Country. Beef schedules are all up around 5 - 10 cents this week, with most classes of cattle getting shorter in supply each week. NI lamb is up at $7.15 with SI lamb up at $6.80

On the dairy front, Spring calving is just around the corner now, with feeder calf markets looking hard to pick so far. It seems prices will diefinitely be back on last year, but to how much is still unknown at present. We will keep you posted in the coming weeks on how this market will feel this season. Surplus dairy cows and heifers are selling around $1200 - $1600 for better quality, with lesser quality selling around $800 - $1100. Friesian heifers for Export are still in demand with shipments out to September/October available. 

On the beef & sheep front, store cattle markets remain steady, with steady demand keeping most classes of cattle moving. R2 Friesian bulls are fetching $2.60 - $2.80kgLW, with R1 Friesian bulls making $2.50 - $3kgLW. R2 Steers are fetching $2.50 - $3kgLW. R1 Steers are making $2.80 - $3kgLW, with Heifers around $2.50kgLW. Store lamb are strong demand with Winter finishers, and most fetching $3 - $3.50kgLW. Inlamb ewes are fetching $150 - $200 depending on quality.
