MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...
The dry weather is starting to kick in with Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu and Wairarapa in need of some good rain after 2 weeks of 30 degree days. Another week of steady schedules with cattle numbers consistent with last week. Lamb schedules are sitting around $4.90 NI and $4.75 SI.
It's that time of year again for pregnancy testing herds with some reports of 10 - 20% so far. Good young empty cows are in good demand with buyers wanting Fries & Fries x young cows with 100+ BW and PW higher than BW in most cases. Most are fetching from $800 - $900 inmilk or dry.
BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR
Store cattle prices remain steady with good demand for most classes of cattle and limited numbers hitting the market. Store lambs are back trading at $2.10kgLW - $2.20kgLW levels as falling schedules and lack of confidence in the outlook put the lid on buyers at present.
