MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...
June generally brings some time for planning and maintenance in the dairy sector. Cows are dry and people have drifted away for the Fieldays at mystery creek. We're noticing a real resilience to the current environment and people are keen to just get on with it!
This week at MLR we are seeing some more demand for top up lines of incalf dairy cows and heifers. This market could strengthen coming into calving with people not wanting to winter large cattle. R1 heifers are on the move with a noticeable increase in price and demand . Friesians are generally the popular choice, xbreds and jerseys need to see high figures to achieve the top dollar. Only a few weeks away from calving so we look forward to seeing some of your calf listings pop up. We know we have the buyers watching and waiting!
BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR
Store cattle remain steady this week. Autumn born Friesian bulls are in good demand fetching around $550 - $600 with Beef calves around $600. Store lambs remain steady but are harder to move in some areas.
