MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...
Some good frosts and cold days over the weekend after what has been a mild winter up until now. Schedules are steady this week with no changes.
DAIRY SECTOR
Calving is just getting under way now with the calf market showing signs of being strong at this stage. Friesian bulls are trading at around $160 - $200 with Beef calves well over $200. Surplus cows and heifers are still selling, so if you have any lines then list them on MLR.
BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR
Store cattle are still steady this week with Friesian 1yr bulls trading around $3.50kgLW. R2 steers are fetching around $3kgLW with R2 Heifers around $2.90kgLW. R2 Friesian bulls are trading at $2.90 - $3kgLW. Store lambs are trading well as numbers drop off and the demand increases with most trading around $2.40 - $2.50kgLW.
