MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...

A warm and wet week for most of us as we head into spring. We have over 150 Frieisan R1 bulls for sale at present in lines from 10 to 50, so if you are looking for store bulls click here to view our drafting gate today. Schedules are steady this week with NI lamb now around $5.90.

DAIRY SECTOR

Inmilk cows and heifers are in good demand as some farmers try to increase numbers. Most are trading around $1000 - $1500 depending on quality. Another good week for feeder calves as rearers keep chasing Friesian bulls and Beef calves. Top quality 10 day old + Friesian bulls are fetching around $150 - $180, with good calves around $100 - $140, and small bulls or poor quality with little demand. Top W/H bulls are around $300, with good mediums around $200 - $260, and Heifers around $140 - $180. Angus bulls and heifers are also selling well. Its nearly service bull time again, so will report on prices next Sunday.

BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR

As spring is here the store cattle markets looks set to heat up for young stock, as buyers hit the market looking to fill orders. Friesian 1yr bulls are fetching $3.40 - $3.60kgLW. 1yr beef heifers are trading around $3.30 - $3.60kgLW. There are good signs of buyers looking for 100kg Friesian bulls, so hopefully demand will help soak up the extra calves being reared this season. Prices on contract so far have been over the $400 mark for October delivery. Good demand for store lambs this week, with most trading around $3.00 - $3.20kgLW. Ewes with LAF are trading at around $60 - $80 all counted.
