MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...
The meat processors are doing their best to edge the schedules back at present, how ever battling with procuring the volumes they need. Some regions have seen some real wintery conditions this week, with a lot of moisture in the ground we should see the grass leap when we get some decent spring sunshine!
DAIRY SECTOR
The heifer service bull market is coming near the end, however we should see some sales in herd bulls coming into November. Good Herefords have been gobbled up with still a few good mediums on quote, but not many homes for jersey bulls currently,hard to move, they just haven't been the flavor of the month! Solid demand on complete lines of dairy hfr calves and 1 year heifers for 1st May delivery. Make sure you get listing your surplus heifers as we have buyers shopping every day!
BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR
The store cattle market have taken a slight lift due to the abundance of grass on the ground. 1 yr Fries bulls are making between $3 - $3.25kgLW. 1 yr beef steers are up around $3.30kgLW with R2 steers between $3-$3.15kgLW. R2 bulls are fetching between $2.80 - $3kgLW. Still solid demand on white face or quality type beef heifers to go to the bull, with these trading up to $3.50kgLW. Some hill country farms are still having fun with the last of their lambing, we will start to see some new season lambs hit the market in the coming weeks.
