MARKET ROUND UP FROM THE FIELD...
It looks like a $6 payout for dairy farmers is likely, after this weeks GDT auctions went up by 11.4%. Lets hope this is the new trend going forward. Schedules are still on the decline again this week with lamb being hit the most at present.
DAIRY SECTOR
With the dairy job looking better this season the demand for heifers is growing. Export will also put the pressure on the local market with plenty of Friesian & Jersey going to China over the coming months. If you have surplus lines of weaner heifers to sell then list them with MLR, as we have buyers active on our website every day. BEEF & SHEEP SECTOR
Store lambs contunine to ease up this week as the schedules are going to be well back on last year. Most lambs are trading around $60 - $80. Friesian weaner bulls are still selling well, with 115kg + fetching over $500, and 100kg - 110kg bulls ranging from $450 - $500. Beef x bulls are in demand with most fetching $550 - $650, and heifers $500 - $600 depending on weight and type. For prices paid for feeder calves, these levels are in line for rearers to make a margin, but time will tell if this can hold up as more calves hit the market in the coming weeks.
